It's about so much more. Built with our tax dollars, The Power and Light District stands only as a monument to our failed city government, lowest common denominator cookie-cutter corporate fun and the wholesale rejection of anything artistic or edgy by them both. As long as our citizens are comfortable with a downtown entertainment center that looks like so many others built by the same companies in lock step with local government, I can see no end to this. We imported the suburbs right back to downtown. No one argued because its not like anyone was using the area for anything before Cordish and City Hall stepped in. People want that kind of fun, they can go, but do we really have to subsidize it? I went to 2 phenomenal and very different shows last week. James Christos at the Riot Room and The Dead Girls at Crosstown Station. Both were amazing, bargain priced and nobody was pulling any plugs or acting stupid. We have a scene here, it may not have a glossed over facade and you may have to squint your eyes to see it but its there for your enjoyment. I love Kansas City, I love live music.

Cordish starts the spin. Bit late since the tweets have been popping all night and day. And even if "artist-provided sound techs were pushing the decibel level" its just about irrelevant given the P&L's history and poor handling of the situation overall. KC DJ Jamel Rockwell put it very eloquently on his comment on the first pitch blog entry:

you mean to tell me with this 50 GAGILLION dollar system someone couldn't find a gain level to turn down? were filters, EQs, and compressors not in the budget? wouldn't you have Fred Durst put his autograph on a speaker if he blew that Mthrfckr?
